Interesting subject!! This was always one of my pet peeves! I just couldn't see how the elders could be appointed by HS, when so many of them were glaringly inadequate. I was in a very small congregation for almost seventeen years. When I started going there there were only 21 pubs. There was only one elder, a tryrant who ran the congregation like the army, it was his law or nothing. He made some very bad judgments and decisions which hurt people. Then another elder was appointed, out of sheer need to carry the work load IMO, and he has got to be one of the most unintelligent people I have had the dubious privilege of knowing! In that congregation it was kind of the "Old boys club", if you were in it you could get away with just about anything. If you weren't you couldn't fart in the wind without there being an announcement from the platform.
I have just seen too many power hungry damaging elders claiming to be appointed by HS, to have any respect for it whatsoever.
BTW, Mr. Elder Unintelligent has been disfellowshipped 3 or 4 times. How many times is the HS wrong?

I am glad you are starting to think that way. I didn't understand the "game playing" you were engaged in. But I figured, to each his own. We all handle it differently and sometimes that is the way the anger and the hurt come out.
I for one, would love to see my family out! But I don't feel it is my job to show them that. Each person has to have their own doubts and then act on them. Hopefully they will!!

funny old life isnt it....
by Deacon ini was just looking out the window, as it would happen a middle aged woman, or perhaps a young woman worn out with her life walked past.
she stopped on the edge of the mall where my wifes office is, and sat on a bench outside the window.
on close look, she couldnt have been more than late 30's, but probably only 35.. she sat for a while just looking at the ground in front of her, her face just exhibiting that blank look of the world weary.

What a crack up!!!! I thought I was the only one who felt this way, because obviously good little Dubs didn't discuss it. But as one who plays piano and has a passable singing voice, it used to annoy the hell out of me. The song are very un-singable and have absolutely no musical merit.
I was one of the "lead" singers, they might miss that. When I was depressed and couldn't get myself to sing loudly, the bros. and sisters would come up to me and say they missed my singing. Oh well, I don't miss singing with them.
I thought I was the only one who came up with the Looney tunes theme. Yeahhhhhhhhhh, someone else caught it too!!

How cool is this Larc?! I just called that number about two weeks ago and recieved a packet of information from them a couple of days ago. It is an interesting read, but they are a little too Jesus oriented for us. But I am glad to have some of their insights!!
